S3 Ep 18: HSE & FIFO

Liam O’Connor

This week on the WarriorU Podcast, Bram talks to Liam O’Connor the Group Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager for Tasman Rope Access.

Tasman Rope Access are an Australian owned and operated company that specialises in complete rope access, fixed plant maintenance and installation solutions. They provide services on a nationwide scale, with offices based in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane. They see the recruitment of ADF Veterans as a key part of the hiring strategy and are passionate about the issues faced by transitioning veterans. We talk about how veterans can set themselves up for success in the HSE space, we discuss FIFO work, mental health and work-life balance.

In 2018 Liam was awarded the national ‘Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award’ by the Australian Institute of Health and Safety for his work with an internal ‘social impact program’; a nationwide business initiative that provides internationally recognised training and long-term employment opportunities to Indigenous Australians, females and transitioning Australian Defence Force veterans. Liam has also been previously independently nominated and shortlisted for both the ‘Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Awards’ and Australian Mining’s ‘Emerging Leader of the Year’.
